About fifteen people sent me the story about California governor Gavin Newsom finally admitting out loud that having boys compete in girls’ sports is unfair.
Some thought this ‘showed some courage’.
Some thought this ‘showed he’s got it’.
And some- had the correct take: Newsom is only saying this now-because he’s smart and slippery-and he wants to run for president in 2028.
That’s the only reason Gavin Newsom is flip flopping on this.... or ‘pretending’ to agree with 80 percent of the American people.
He wants to run for president in’28 and he’s smart enough to know that this was ‘the’ sleeper issue of the 2024 election-and one that democrats got their brains beaten in on.
And so, while he stupidly sees most other top democrats doubling, tripling, and quadrupling down on their attempts to trans-bully the rest of us- ole’ Gavin understands that if he wants to have a chance of winning a nationwide presidential race- especially as a radical California democrat-
Well, he’s going to have to do all he can to pretend that he’s not a radical California democrat. Correct?
Trust me: Gavin Newsom hasn’t really had a change of heart, here. He’s not ready to ‘courageously’ buck his own party’s base.
He’s triangulating.
His approach to politics is virtually identical to that of the Clintons and barrack Obama:he’ll tell anyone-in any given situation-what he thinks they want to hear. He will be the ultimate windsock on the issues and take ‘any and all’ positions, before settling on the one that he thinks will serve him the best-
And that’s how he will run his primary race. Gavin Newsom isn’t a principled or ideological politician. Yes, he’s a far leftist, but- he’s going to say or do whatever he thinks it’s going to take to win.
Then-once he’s in power- he can flip a switch and enact the radical agenda. But he’s got to trick you voters into putting him into power, first.
That’s what this was about, yesterday.
For heaven’s sake: that’s why he will occasionally do sit-down interviews with Sean Hannity and joe rogan and pretend to be reasonable. That’s why he was talking to -Charlie Kirk (of all people)- when he made this comment.
The venue was the debut of Gavin Newsom’s new podcast.
What?
This guy is still the sitting governor of California. A massive state with massive problems. He’s got time to launch a podcast>.
It just shows you how unserious Newsome is-as a leader-and how he’s just a ‘political climber’.
But- on his ‘debut’ podcast? He decides his guest is going to be Charlie Kirk, the head of a very successful young conservative movement called turning point USA.
Tell me that’s not highly calculated.
The entire point of launching the podcast was to use it as a venue to make him sound more reasonable and more ‘centrist’ over the next few years-in preparations for 2028.
Charlie kirk was giving him advice: you should just admit boys in girls’ sports is a bad thing and get on the right side of the issue.
To which Newsom responded:
But he said...you’ve got to have sympathy for ‘these people’...
He actually used the term ‘these people’ when referring to transgender kids...and said. They are in a fragile emotional state.... yada, yada...
And so, he’d only go so far in his ‘newly stated position’ here...but...it still shocked the political world yesterday.
But it didn’t shock me- or any savvy politico-one bit- because this is ‘Gavin being Gavin’.If he’s going to run in 2028, he’s got a lot of damage control to do and an awful lot of ‘reinventing’ to do, on his image.
He and the socialist progressives who are ruining California -and the entire country - have been embracing all of that nonsense for years.
Don’t believe that he’s had a ‘magical conversion’ now.
In fact, the editors at Politico today are at least honest enough to mention that he- Newsome- has signed a bunch of transgender bullying into law.
Politico doesn’t say it- so I will: those laws have been on the books since 2014 and pre-date Newsome...but he’s never made a single move to repeal them or change them? Has he?
If he’s so ‘anti-gender-bulling’...and if he’s so interested in standing up for girls and women. He’s been governor for what? 8 years now? Longer?
And he hasn’t made a move to ‘right’ the ‘wrong’.
Because he’s a triangulating fraud.
So, we can’t use this as an example of democrats ‘finally getting it’...or being able to change.
One triangular does not speak for the entire part-whose leaders are making it clear that they are-by God- tripling and quadrupling down on the ‘girl bullying’ and ‘gender bullying’ that they’ve been engaged in.
