Jay Weber Show transcript 2-27-25
President Trump held his first cabinet meeting yesterday-and we learned some things from it.
First-the controversy over having Elon Musk sit in is silly. The president and cabinet members can invite anyone into the room that they’d like to- if it relates to talking about admin business.
Moreover- this same MSM thought it was ‘fun’ that Jill Biden was -not just sitting in- but running Joe Biden’s final cabinet meeting, so once again, ignore the whining.
The biggest ‘news’ for me was Trump saying he has ordered the agencies to prepare plans for large-scale firings in March (good)-
-and-ugh- do I love this news: his team might cut EPA staff levels by 65 percent. Fantastic.
First- the mass layoffs. Everyone knows they are coming. It’s something trump campaigned on.
He and musk have both spoken in terms of cutting this federal staff of 2.3-million workers (not counting the military or the post office)-
Down by about 200-thousand workers, or ten percent.
We’ve been hearing about the thousands of first year probationary workers that are already being fired. Those people haven’t earned civil service protections yet and are the easiest to fire-so- we’ve been hearing about ‘two thousand here’ ...and ‘five thousand there’.
Those are going to add up.
Also- 77-thousand federal workers said they wanted to take the early buy-out offer that Musk and Trump floated: quit now-get pay and benefits thru September-
And presumably, that’s still percolating. So, Trump’s regime has got to be close to about 100-thousand layoffs, already. But...a memo went out yesterday:
There’s the ‘proof of life’ email that Elon sent to all federal employees on Monday- which led to such ludicrous meltdowns among workers, unionistas, and lefty crybabies.
Trump confirmed yesterday in this cabinet meeting: yep. We are sending it out again.
Elon and trump both said-look- it’s possible that a lot of the people who don’t respond will be fired-yes- because now they will have had more than enough time to ‘know this request is coming’...as well as more than enough time to respond to it.
In fact, Musk, yesterday, did what he should have done Saturday: he explained to the media what this is really all about: finding fraud and fake govt workers.
Trump, too, said, look- some of these people might be dead. Some are fake. We must clean this up.
And- on the matter of doge, itself-Trump told reporters ‘This is happening’, and even told his cabinet members- if you don’t support Elon’s effort- you’re gone.
This is a perfectly reasonable request as part of an extremely rare- once in 200 years- top-down audit’ of our federal government.
And anyone who denies it is being silly.
Honest to God, to still here democrat and never Trump voices digging in on this and insisting it’s awful, or ‘fake’, or won’t lead to better government.
At this point? Given all the fraud and abuse that DOGE has already uncovered?
Those people are in deep, deep denial. This effort is real and we, the people- have got to hope that its changes are lasting and real.
Which brings us to one of the greatest bits of news to come out of yesterday’s cabinet meeting-if you ask me: trump making it known that Lee Zeldin, his new leader of the EPA says 65% of these staffers can be cut.
Fantastic.
I say that because over the decades there has not been a single agency in government that has been more completely co-opted by leftists, eco-zealots and their agenda-nor one that has been more rapidly expanded and bloated.
Today’s EPA is now ‘little more’ than an extension of the democrat party and their activist groups. Sincerely. I’ve been calling for congress to kill off the EPA is ‘too damaged to salvage’...and start over.
But knowing that will never happen- slashing its personnel by 65 percent is a good place to start the reforms.
This would mean erasing ten thousand jobs at the EPA. Again. ‘it’s a start’.
Man-that would be a massive win.
(We can’t play the sounder yet, Greg. We don’t count our ‘wins’ before they are verified. But this would be a massive win)
(play ‘they’re eating the dogs)
No, EPA workers aren’t eating the dogs, Mr. President-but they have been harming the hell out of the American people with their ludicrous global warming regulations for years.
This doge effort is-so critical. It’s so critical it succeeds. Because, as Elon Musk has said several times now: if Trump and the supreme court don’t prove that a president has the authority over the vast, faceless bureaucracy in this country- all is lost.
If that’s the case then we don’t really have a republic, or even a democracy. As musk has put it: if trump can’t do these things- then we live in a bureaucracy.
Yeah. And this is precisely how the American left, over time, has set this up.
The American people have never had -less- hope for change-before Trump won in November-and now have high hopes now that he’s in office.
Trump’s crypto czar is David Sacks. And he made a good point on the Will Cain show this week.
He said-my God- how bad is it when someone says, ‘maybe we should check to see if the gold is still in Fort Knox’.
Are you going to argue with that?
Yeah, the gold is probably still there-
But- if you had to bet your life on it- with a gun to your head let’s go check and see if the gold is still in Fort Knox-and if it’s not i pull the trigger-
Would you have zero worries during the walk?
Is it all still there? Accurate accounting? There’s been no theft or fraud perpetrated over the years at Fort Knox and treasury.
