The media ‘shake-ups’ are coming fast and furious- now that it has become so very apparent that Donald Trump’s victory-
And the democrat losses – in fall- represent a more significant shift among voters-and then just ‘a bad election cycle’.
Even the people owning and running this legacy and left wing media outlets cannot deny it, anymore: the vast majority of the American people don’t want to ‘use’ their product...nor do they ‘trust’ their product.
When it comes to the super-low ratings of CNN and MSNBC- there can be no doubt of what it means: you suck. America is rejecting you.
And when it comes to the extremely low circulation numbers and subscriptions to your newspaper websites- there can be no doubt as to what it means: people are finding ‘no value’ in what you are doing.
A tearful Joy Reid on Monday- insisted several times that ‘my show had value’. My show had value’.
Apparently not. Or you’d still be spreading your special brand of hate and racism on MSNBC.
Yesterday-the owner of the Washington Post- Jeff Bezos- announced what he and media insiders consider a ‘major change’.... but I doubt that ...’in practice’....it will be one.
The whole statement is kind of goofy, really. It’s not clear what set this off. He doesn’t state whether he thought the current editorial board was ‘anti-free market’ and ‘anti-liberty’.
I assume he thinks they were, or this makes no sense. Then he goes on to suggest that ‘if people want that-they can get that elsewhere’...
Ahh....okay.
But- apparently, this pronouncement was enough to get his chief opinion editor to quit. A guy named David Shipley:
So- the current post opinion editor -David Shipley- didn’t’ want to defend ‘free markets and personal liberties?’
I just can’t do it. I’ve got to quit.
What does that say about -him-as a journalist and an American? Did he get to take his copy of ‘Mien Kampf’ with him?
The whole thing’s odd: is Bezos trying to signal that the post is going to become a more reasonable, centrist paper-without saying it?
Having a more centrist and reasonable editorial page? Or running editorials about how competition brings down the price of bananas?
For the life of me- I don’t really understand what he’s saying here. Which is why I read it as: we aren’t going to be so leftist and nuts, anymore, editorially.
Okay. Great. But it still isn’t likely to save the paper.
Then there’s this-more significant take away-
And it has to do with the reaction to the changes: post employees leaping to blast Bezos and get on their fake ‘high horse’ about journalistic integrity.
We are getting the heart of the matter-and it isn’t lost on me that these lefty whiners at the post are having the exact same reaction that democrats and federal workers are having to the fact that Elon Musk and Donald Trump are daring-
Daring them to defend their jobs.
It’s the exact same squeal. The exact same ‘howls of pain’ from people who think -they-are the ones calling the shots- not their employer.
so many of these institutions are crumbling. Public and private: if leftists are certain they are the ones in charge-they are not going to give up their power, willingly. No. Even when they don’t own the place.... or are being paid by the very people and taxpayers who they are telling to ‘bleep off’.
Look at MSNBC: same attitude. A racist who never should have been on the air-at all- got to spread her vile hate and racism for years. Years. Because she checked boxes and was a member of the leftist cabal.
She’s finally taken off the air due to extremely low ratings-and she and her colleagues at MSNBC all turn on their employers and insist- their own company-is racist.
You heard Rachel Maddow on Monday:
So... Maddow calls the people who sign her huge check racist. Al Sharpton calls them racist. Chris Hayes calls them racist. They don’t even think twice about it because they are certain that ‘they should get to call the shots’ -even as employees.
But you know what none of them does?
Quit.
All these people at NBC are allegedly so upset about Reid’s firing that they are attacking their bosses and feel the need to lash out.
But- not even one of them has quit.
The NY Post editors nail it by saying ‘there’s one way Rachel Maddow could really ‘make herself heard’ and ‘strike a blow for racism’ if she’s really this upset.
Just quit.
But she won’t, of course, because she’s a hypocrite.
Moreover, she knows that once this ludicrous contract she is currently under that pays her 25-million dollars to do almost nothing runs out- she won’t get another one-and will likely be shoved off of MSNBC.
And then? Where does Maddow go to find a job?
No other network wants her. She’ll be podcasting from her basement, too, hoping to make a few bucks off YouTube subscribers.
