Ever since DOGE started to get to work- and started to reveal the naked waste, fraud, and potential criminality of operations like the
USAID agency...the deep state actors...who are almost entirely democrats and leftists- have been portrayed as basically- mafia minions. The secret thieves and enforcers for today’s democrat party.
I like this characterization in the Washington Times:
The federal workforce has become an integral part of the democrat party machine and power structure...and is important to them as the mainstream media and the billionaires who fund their activist non-profits.
Yep. I think that’s right.
And now that the effort to expose them all has begun- “we on the right”, and ‘we the people’ in general- need to make sure our leaders ‘see it thru’.
It was good to hear President Trump and Elon Musk- in the oval office Tuesday night- making it clear that this project is ‘only just beginning’. Trump has apparently told musk that he wants doge to investigate the IRS, the education department, and the defense department next-and i cannot imagine some of the fraud and political double-dealing that we are going to find atop those agencies.
And the truth is-this isn’t- something that congress could do.
Congress is supposed to have- these powers...but has lost over time to entrenched bureaucracies and union protections and intransigent presidential administrations.
Speaker Mike Johnson was asked by reporters whether musk was doing the work that congress should ‘more properly’ be doing, and i thought his answer was an interesting one.
Johnson basically details why Elon Musk and DOGE are such powerful allies for President Trump....and why it’s driving the left crazy.
They-as the builders and protectors of the deep state and the government corruption and largesse that’s being discovered- could not have a more menacing enemy.
And this much-needed attack on our federal bureaucracy comes at a time in which the democrat party’s leaders have never been weaker, nor had less power.
I reminded listeners on Monday: since the democrats don’t even hold one chamber of congress...they do not hold chairmanships. They cannot hold hearings. They cannot launch investigations. They cannot issue subpoenas. They cannot get anything voted on.
Our Wisconsin potato head- Marc Pocan- can pretend all he wants that he’s ‘written a law’ to stop Elon Musk....but he can’t get a vote on it for at least two years-and the federal colonoscopy exam will be over by then. Musk’s expecting this work to take about a year.
And so, for all these reasons and more, the democrats and their activists are mortified by Musk’s ‘reach’ and ‘efficiency’ and are scrambling to do anything they can to stop it.
I found the reaction to the joint news conference that Trump and Musk held on Tuesday night interesting. It was just the two of them-in the oval- very causally answering the reporter’s questions and explaining what DOGE was doing.
And they both came off as very reasonable and believable, of course-
Because once the American people find out that this is nothing more than a series of audits to find waste and fraud and duplication-and shrink government- hey- everyone’s on board with that.
And so- the DC elite and their media mouthpieces were mortified by this Tuesday night news conference and spent the entire day yesterday-trying to trash it...
With most of their efforts- no kidding-
With most of the media efforts yesterday- being an attempt to manipulate Trump to get rid of musk...for hogging the spotlight.
I hope you saw some of these headlines-and claims: trump looked small. He was literally looking up at musk....as musk controlled the room. Not a good look. It’s really ‘President Musk’.
That entire line of narratives- and -the entire news day yesterday- was an organized effort by the dc democrats and their media accomplices to ‘win’ this standoff over DOGE by having Trump get jealous of Elon Musk and get him out of dc.
This is how desperate the democrats are. Yes.
But the truth is: the fact that Musk was willing to stand there for an hour-or however long it took-and answer questions about doge-and even challenge reporters to find ulterior motives- was impressive. And the democrats and their media allies know it.
And -oooooo, they hated it.
They hated the ‘reasonable, credible, thoughtful Elon Musk that the country saw on Tuesday night.
Uugh! They hated it.
Because that ‘moment’ came just as democrat insiders thought they were finally making headway in demonizing musk and this doge effort.
Musk and trump on Tuesday evening- simply reminded the country that they are doing what most democrats want them to do. They explained that this isn’t a ‘constitutional assault’ on government. It’s a long, long, long overdue audit that many voters have said they’d like to see- for decades. End the govt corruption. Root out the deep state.
Trump and musk have their marching orders from the 77 million Americans who voted for trump in an electoral landslide and the ‘even more’ Americans who have rallied to Trump’s side, since.
Americans voted for -this-change in November.
Don’t kid yourself: after four years of being ignored by Joe Biden’s white house and this larger ‘deep state’.... They wanted ‘Washington DC’ to hear them.
Make no mistake.
We talked about this all thru the final two years of the Biden era, at least: how Biden and today’s democrats were blatantly ignoring the wishes and the will of the American people-at every turn.
It wasn’t just engineering open borders and blatantly giving the country away. It was extending the middle finger to average Americans every time. They said ‘we don’t want this. We don’t support this’.
The democrat’s answer for four years was: bleep you, we’re doing it, anyway.
And so now, somewhere between 2/3 and ¾ of the American people are saying: shut up, stop whining, and sit back and watch your house of cards be dismantled.
A CNN columnist admits today: trump’s ‘full out assault’ on the federal government is a political winner- at least for now.
Yes, it is. Stephen Collinson is the columnist, and writes from his typically left-wing perch
You hear his disdain for our ‘MAGA assumptions’...but they’ve turned out to be true, haven’t they? In a few short weeks- the doge review has proven that most federal workers really are- and even view themselves as! - elites with lifetime jobs and fat, guaranteed pensions that they get for rigging our govt agencies in favor of the democrats.
How can Stephenson even argue with the characterization? It’s just been proven.
And the same goes for the democrats and media members who are highlighting musk’s so-called power grab: they really -are- defending the swamp against reforms- because most of them-really are- on the take- from taxpayers, and part of the corrupt system.
I don’t know how this columnist or any other leftist can even argue otherwise, given the events of the last few weeks. Every important democrat and never-Trumper seems to have magically ended up on that list of people whose ‘causes’ were getting taxpayer money funneled to them thru the secretive USAID agency.
The people squawking the loudest really are direct benefactors of the decades and decades of dishonest grifting.
For heaven’s sake, even our medical research institutions and universities have been exposed to being part of the problem- as they get to spend anywhere between 20 and 60 percent of their federal grant money on things-other than-the research that the money is supposed to be funding.
Even that leftist slush fund has been discovered...with our own UW syphoning 55 percent of NIH govt grant money that comes into the u-w for something ‘other than’ its intended use.
How is anyone? defending this, anymore?
And so-to have Elon Musk walk the country thru what he’s doing- and do so in a very credible manner- as president trump sits right there and reassures the public‘ he’s doing everything on my authority and i won’t let him go too far’...
Sorry lefties: that’s something the American people are going to love to see.
This is another issue that the democrats should have been smarter about. They should have at least pretended-as a party-and as dc lawmakers- to be on board with doge...and the idea of rooting out wasteful spending and making government more efficient.
Instead, they stupidly took the other side- which is the indefensible side: we’ve got to protect the government corruption at all costs.
That’s as dumb as ‘we’ve got to let illegals flood into our country’.... And ‘we’ve got to pretend men can get pregnant’...
What dopes!
