Eric Hovde did a nice job in Friday’s WBA debate. The only debate the Tammy Baldwin campaign would agree to only one hour, and on a Friday night when no one would be watching.
And if you watched any of it-you know why: even after all these years in politics...Tammy Baldwin is not a good debater. She’s not a strong personality. She can’t explain why she’s in Washington DC or what she’s been doing on behalf of the state of Wisconsin for decades.
Again, during the debate on Friday, she tried to take credit for ‘other senator’s work’ …. when all she might have done is ‘sign onto’ the bill as a sponsor.
Meanwhile-Eric Hovde did a good job of handling hostile moderators who only wanted to ask questions that might be good for tammy.
And still-some of Hovde’s answers went viral because they were so good.
In one moment-when they were talking about residency- Hovde said- i have one of my utility bills here. Let’s compare utility bills on our homes in Wisconsin over the last year-and see who’s living in Wisconsin-
Which would have been a great opening for Baldwin to say ‘yes, lets’...if she and the dems really thought Hovde really lives in California.
But she didn’t.
Why?
Because she’d been caught in the lie, Baldwin doesn’t live in Wisconsin. She and her partner live in a million-dollar condo on the east coast. She’s only ever back in Wisconsin during election years, or for rare events.
Hovde also called Baldwin on her secret wealth.
Baldwin responded to this with -what the democrats thought- was a zinger: she said, Eric Hovde should stay out of my personal life. In fact, all women want that’...
But that retort hit me as ironic given that Tammy Baldwin and Ben Wickler were attacking Hovde on his personal life even before he got into the race!
What are attacks like: ‘he’s so rich. He’s got several homes. He secretly lives in California.’
Etc. What are those-other than attacks on Hovde’s personal life?
They’ve been attacking Eric Hovde over his wealth for nearly a year. He can’t even mention hers.
Moreover- I’ve always thought the democrats attacks on a candidate’s wealth and success were stupid. They try to convince voters that ‘being successful’ is a bad thing.
Look at this guy.... he’s so smart and motivated that he built a great company that employs thousands of people and made him rich. What a turd.
You got to vote for someone like tammy...whose only every been a ‘suck’ on government and has never had a real job before.
Or- the one I really love: you got to vote for the person who’s been a congressman for two or three decades-but is still broke.
You got to vote for Gwen Moore, or Russ Feingold, or Joe Biden...because....after decades of making a 150-thousand dollar a year salary.... they say their broke. Yeah. The only people who should oversee our federal budget-are morons who can’t personally budget.
If you’re an undecided voter leaning toward voting for Tammy because ‘Eric Hovde’s too rich, energetic, and successful’... You’re a dope.
If you’re voting for tammy because she’s got a lifetime of ‘experience’ in doing nothing in government- genuinely-
You’re part of the problem in this country.
If you don’t like conservative policies...or you ‘do’ like dem policies better.... that’s one thing.
But if this ‘Hovde and Johnson are too rich and successful and i want morons with no money even though they’ve made millions to represent me, instead’....
You are part of the problem in this country.
Also related to the Hovde/Baldwin race: she and a few other democrats- suddenly starting to run ads that tie them to Donald Trump.
Hhmmm...
What can this be about?
I think you know it’s the next ‘good sign’ that Donald Trump is starting to stretch out leads in these swing states.
Baldwin’s campaign internals show Donald Trump up three points here-
Which is larger than any public polling we’ve seen-or even trump’s own internal polling. But Tammy Baldwin’s not taking any chances. She knows which way the momentum has been shifting-
And that is likely to continue in this week’s polling-given the terrible fox news interview and some of last week’s gaffes.
It’s not surprising that even her fellow democrats are starting to believe she could lose all three of the blue wall states.
