My friends-
Before Kamala Harris’s interview with Bret Beier- i was prepared to label this another week that was ‘not great’ for Kamala and the democrats-but also not overtly bad.
Before Bret-Kamala was having an ‘okay’ week. No major embarrassments or gaffes. A few on the Charlamagne broadcast that were mostly overlooked.
A little fallout from Bill Clinton telling the truth about illegals…and barrack trying to scold black people last week…
But…she wasn’t having a terrible week.
Then her team put her on Fox-in a high-stakes interview to make her look more credible and presidential-
And- to his credit- Bret Beier asked all sorts of good questions that no one else in her handpicked interviews has been asking her-
And yet-
Let’s be clear: he also only asked questions that she and her team should have anticipated and been prepping her for-
And instead of having good answers- she wet the bed, again.
Instead of answering a single question Brett Beier asked-she deflected everyone and tried to turn it into a ‘trump answer’. That was clearly the instruction she was given: just keep looping it back to trump.
A savvier politician might have been able to pull it off. But Kamala’s not savvy. Or smart. And so, she ended up looking foolish and out of her depth.
I asked the question yesterday- before this interview: why are we even pretending that this woman is capable of being president of the United States?
The very same democrats who are trying to gaslight the country into electing her now- know she’s not capable of this job. They’ve known it for at least six years- since the last time she ran for president-and having seen her be an awful and useless v-p….and an overall anchor-
A negative-
To the party. Its’ why they were talking about taking her off the Biden ticket in the months before Biden announced his re-election run.
This interview with Bret Beier was terrible- and-
As bad as it was-Beier made it known afterward that the Harris campaign played games and jerked him around beforehand…. trying to ensure that it was as short as possible. He literally had a half hour window to get this done before he needed to turn it around and air it. They knew that. So, they jerked around with him.
He’s explaining at the end there- why he didn’t get to half of the questions he wanted to ask…and why …very early on in the interview…he decided he’d have to jump in and interrupt when she started to launch into her ‘tried and true’, preprogrammed talking points that all politicians use to kill time- or fill the void-when they don’t want to answer the question.
We’ve seen that -with Kamala-she’s got about five or six memorized filibusters, and she uses them regardless of what the question is.
And so- she was doing that- and Beier decided early on-i just must push her a little bit. And he did.
And it was very effective. He started with some border and immigration questions -and she made herself look silly because she refuses to answer a single question.
Really?
She refuses to site several illegals she and the democrats have allowed into the country. Its’ at least 10 to 12 million. It could be as high as sixteen million. Bret cites- her own dept of homeland securities number-which is bs: about six million.
And so- she won’t answer that question. He asks do you regret blowing up trump’s border fix-remain in Mexico. She won’t answer that question.
She points to a ‘first day’ immigration bill that would have granted every illegal in the country amnesty and put them on a path to legalization-
A path to being the next wave of democrat voters-
What a disaster of an exchange.
As Clay Travis puts it: all she has are memorized vapid word salads. She can’t handle any push back on her cliches at all. There’s just nothing here, she doesn’t know what she believes or how to fix anything:
This is true.
And it wasn’t the only question Beier had on the border. He asks her about her long-time positions on giving illegals all sorts of special treatments.
Again-
She simply won’t answer the question! If these are the things that today’s democrat party supports-and they are- just admit it!
Instead-she intentionally sidesteps-and in such an obvious manner that you can’t even give her style points.
Bill Clinton or Barack Obama would have been said…Bret…we’ve got all sorts of illegals driving around the country in vehicles without licenses…and it’s an added danger to the country…but that’s a minor issue….when you start to look at…. And off they’d go into their spin.
Kamala -as you heard- stops cold. Has no clever dodge.
At one point he asked: you repeatedly said the border was secure. When did it become a crisis?
Harris: it’s been imperfect and needs to be fixed.
So, why did she repeatedly call the border secure for over three years- and now be willing to admit it’s a crisis that she’ll fix?
There isn’t an honest bone in this woman’s body.
Here’s another low-light: she clearly covered up Joe Biden’s mental decline- and so- Bret asked about that.
Bret is very good about making it clear: it’s not me saying he’s slipped- George Clooney even admitted it. At some point-the truth came out. You were in-on the cover up.
She tries to make it about trump.
And here’s the deal: that wasn’t just a disastrous ‘one day’ interview. We’ve talked about how these things work in the modern age of media: the initial -and more major- reaction to this interview will be last night -after it aired- and today.
Then it’ll have legs right thru the weekend-as the news slows down and the weekend cable shows need something to talk about.
I assume that even CNN and MSNBC hosts are going to have a hard time avoiding playing at least some of these clips…. even if it’s solely to pretend they are being unbiased.
one final clip: solely to illustrate what ‘unhinged’ really sounds like. What ‘raging about’ something really sounds like-because for 8 years- every single leftist news outlet has insisted that Donald Trump ‘raged at’...or was ‘enraged by’ …or ‘ranted about’....etc..
And when you watch the clip- trump isn’t raging or ranting. He’s simply answering the question emphatically, or maybe being sort of testy about it.
If trump even shows a hint of emotion-he’s labeled as ‘ranting’ or ‘raging.’
It helps to see the video- but -this- is raging Kamala Harris almost came unglued at one point…. flashing real anger and emphatically jabbing her finger downward at Beier in front of her-over and over again- like she was stabbing something with a knife.
So-that’s ranting.
But she was defensive and prickly for the entire interview, which her supporters wanted to spin as: she was tough and did great in a hostile interview.
But it wasn’t a hostile interview.
She was being asked questions that she-should have been answering-for at least two months now.
Moreover- neither she-nor Joe- have ever been asked these questions before because-
A. they have a compliant, accomplice media
B. neither one of them had a real primary this time.
Folks-Beier’s questions are the sort of questions that would have normally been asked- and answered- in a months-long primary. Any answer to them-whether it was good or not- would have been given so many times that someone like Beier wouldn’t even be asking them three weeks before an election. They would literally be ‘old news’.
It’s one reason that primaries are important. As i watched the interview- I had Reince Priebus’s voice in my head- saying ‘this is why you have a primary’.
He’s always been a fan of hardening up your candidate before the general election with a primary- even if he or she is just running against stooges-
Because at least these negative and embarrassing questions come up -very early- well away from election day. And they are answered. In fact, your candidate and your campaign have five, ten, fifteen kicks at the cat….to try to get your response right…in case they do come up in the general.
But ‘in general’- the question-and your candidate’s response to them are ‘old news’ by the time you get to the general election.
But - Kamala Harris never had a primary. She’s never sat for serious interviews. And so, listen back. Bret Beier -did not -ask hostile questions.
He asked good and ‘basic’ questions that should have been asked nine months ago-during a primary. Or six months ago-when joe kicked off his re-election campaign. Or three months ago when kamala was coronated.
Instead-here we are-19 days before election day- and the democrat’s candidate has never been asked these questions before!
It’s actually insane!
In the world of ‘politics and political campaigns, folks, it’s actually insane that Kamala Harris and Tim Walz have gotten this far without ever being confronted with some of these questions.
And as Brett Beier said afterward: he didn’t even get to most of the questions that he had!
As for Kamala. Ben Shapiro got it right when he said-even her tone was terrible.
