Kammy's handlers might regret hiding her away

Jay Weber Show transcript 8-21-24

I tell yah-folks- Kamala Harris and her team might regret this decision to refuse to do interviews and refuse to provide any specifics to voters...because they think they can win on ‘joy’ and ‘vibes’ alone.

I think they’re going to come to regret this.

No one’s talking about it yet-but with each passing day- these strategists are making ‘the moment that Kamala ‘does’ speak’ more consequential.

And if that’s in the first debate-it could really be disastrous for the ticket.

For now- Harris’ team and the dem strategists are certain that she’s ‘winning’.... which i question...

And they are certain she is winning because she’s ‘not trump’ but she’s also ‘not Biden’....and her handlers genuinely think ‘that’s enough. That’ll be enough to deliver the win.’

They see her tied or slightly ahead in the polls...and couldn’t be happier. They’re certain her numbers will only build from here- with trump helping them as he ‘screws up’- and the win is already in sight.

This is what the Harris/Walz team is currently banking on.

And since they ‘expect’ Harris’ poll numbers to keep going up-they run the risk of getting a false ‘validation’ next week and heading into September....because they’ll be coming off of the democrat national convention....so they ...will see...a bump.

Let’s hope they view it as ‘validation’ of their ‘hide Kammy’ plan working-and refuse to showcase her in any sit-down interview or unscripted town hall before the debate.

Because it will backfire.

I know Kammy’s poll numbers are going to be higher next week because candidates always get a boost in the polls after their party’s convention....and those bumps in the polls are almost always....temporary.

But if her team views them as ‘evidence’ that they can put a bubblehead into office without ever addressing the voters or the news media? Great.

Imagine if- three weeks from now- we are in mid-September- and kamala still isn’t doing interviews...and her campaign is having been a steady diet of gauzy pep rallies.

Wow- is there going to be a lot of pent-up interest in hearing Kamala speak- and how she can handle herself in a debate.

The pressure on her will be ‘extreme’ if we voters still haven’t heard from her directly, by then.

I tell ya- this gambit to start running a ‘prevent’ defense way, way early-in august- is one that’s going to come back and hurt the democrats.

This notion that they can win by hiding her away from media interviews and town halls has a high probability of ‘backfiring’ on them.

The inescapable fact is that -at the very least- Kamala Harris will have to get onto a debate stage- unscripted- at least twice.

Yesterday, the Harris/Walz campaign turned down yet another offer to have a third debate- this one on fox. Nope. Harris’ handlers know they are stretching it by even agreeing to do two...

But in mid-September- Kamala Harris is going to have to debate.  In early October- creepy dad Tim Walz is going to have to, too.

I think we can say-for certain-that JD Vance will mop the floor with Tim Walz....and there’s at least a chance that Donald Trump can stick to the issues for the first half hour or 45 minutes and make Kammy look like the clueless lightweight that she is.

If trump sticks to the issues and lists his ‘very real’ instances of acting as president...in contrast to Kamala Harris’ four years of pretending to be Veep....

He could really help his campaign and the GOP ballot.

And I can’t believe that the Harris team thinks that keeping her from doing the ‘real work’ of a campaign for at least the first six weeks of a short campaign...is a smart move.

As i said earlier- they think they are protecting her now...but...if she patently refuses to do any interviews or unscripted events for another two or three weeks- ‘everything’ is then -going to be riding- on the first debate.

Correct?

If this is the only chance America must  get a good look at Kammy- wow- are the stakes going to be out of this world for her.

And before she was the nominee and the new messiah- her fellow leftists in the media kept telling us that she is-not good-in high pressure situations.

That-by the way-is not a great trait to have in a president: someone who can’t handle high pressure situations...

But....i think you get my point: with every day that her handlers refuse to let her ‘get more comfortable’ in her own skin-and on this bigger stage- is a mistake.

For heaven’s sake- we know the news outlets would do softball interviews with her- if she did agree to them. So why isn’t she?

Folks, if this debate in mid-September is viewed as ‘finally, Kammy speaks’....and she screws up a few times...or nervously cackles her way thru it...or just has one ‘really bad moment’ it could be a disaster. Because they inadvertently built up the importance of the debate so much...
