Let’s talk about his military service-because this is something the dems say will appeal to male and rural voters.
Folks-those who served in the national guard with him were saying yesterday: when it came time to step up and go to war- Tim Walz ‘took a pass’ and abandoned his unit.
and hey- i never served. I have great respect for anyone who did-and went to war. I’m not in a position to judge- but- the Minnesota veterans who served with him are- and whew!- they do not like this guy.
In fact- yesterday looked like another ‘swiftboat veterans against Kerry’ ...sort of thing.
A group of those Minnesota veterans published an op-ed in one of the major papers saying-Tim Walz would be a terrible commander-in-chief because he was largely a pretender as a national guard leader and abandoned them when an actual war came around.
That is where all the written ‘bios’ on Walz’s military service stopped yesterday. I didn’t see left wing news outlets-or right-wing outlets- being critical of Walz’s service.
It seems to stand on its own as a significant commitment to the country that most of us do not make.
But- many Minnesota vets say-‘how he left’ the national guard is inexcusable.
He retired when it was clear he might have to lead a battalion-in a war theatre
As an added kicker: once Walz went off to congress- he quickly took any position that was ‘anti-bush’ and ‘anti-bush’s war’.
But it’s the fact that Walz was a battalion commander -and slithered out-as these vets put it- that seems to chap these veterans the most.

So. Do you think that Minnesota’s veterans have ‘a bit of a problem’ with Tim Walz?
I’d Just like socialism, this is Tim Walz idea of being neighborly and they will spread the ‘truth’ about this man around from to every VA and VFW in America-in short order.
So- that’s why i say the dems are lying to themselves when they say Walz will appeal to veterans: not if they hear from his fellow vets in Minnesota.
