WASHINGTON, D.C. – New polling conducted in Wisconsin on behalf of Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) and American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) shows that among likely voters, the United States is on the wrong track and there is strong opposition to government policies designed to ban new gas-powered vehicles. Further, a supermajority of likely voters say that this policy issue will be important to them when deciding which elected officials to support in 2024.
The polling — fielded in Wisconsin between June 29 – July 1 — was conducted by Remington Research Group and measured likely voter sentiment around direction of the country, issue importance, gas-car bans, and support for candidates who embrace such policies. Highlights of the polls are as follows:
Wisconsinites believe the United States is headed in the wrong direction.
- 59% wrong track, 34% right track, 7% not sure
If the election were to be held today, Donald Trump would win Wisconsin.
- 49% Trump, 43% Biden, 4% Kennedy, 1% West, 0% Stein, 3% Undecided
The Senate ballot is currently tied.
- 48% Hovde, 48% Baldwin, 3% Undecided
On a generic Congressional ballot, Republicans lead Democrats in Wisconsin.
- 49% Republican, 46% Democrat, 5% Undecided
The majority of likely voters in Wisconsin oppose gas-car bans.
- 59% oppose, 22% support, 19% undecided
A supermajority in Wisconsin report that a candidate’s position on stopping bans on new gas-cars is an important factor in their vote.

I've been skeptical of these polls finding Trump up by 6 or so, but this has been the trend. This is the third poll with similar results. We asked Scott Manley of WMC about it this morning...
