Jay Weber Show transcript 12-12-23 6:10am
We saw massive reaction on both social media-and in the traditional news media-to our interview with Robin Vos yesterday, in the wake of the UW board of regents rejecting what was a very good deal for the UW system- because they are so ‘dug in’ on the idea of victimology and wokeisms and DEI.
This is a deal that would have given 34-thousand UW employees raises and committed 800-million dollars more to capital projects and workplace development moves...including clearing the way for a new engineering building that the UW leaders insist they need on the Madison campus.
It was ‘all upside’ for the UW system if they just agreed to dissolve 43 leftist, discriminatory DEI positions and reassign those employees.
In the end- ‘indoctrination’ won out-as the nine regents that gov Evers has appointed decided their soviet-style grip on the content that’s allowed to be taught on campus-and the type of student they’ll allow to attend...was more important.
So, I had speaker Vos on saying: this is the GOP lawmaker’s last-best offer. There will be no additional attempts to ‘make these raises or this new spending ‘happen’ for the u-w system if its leaders aren’t willing to be reasonable.
He told me- the offer remains on the table-short term-but not forever. If those regents would like to reconsider- maybe, they can still approve the deal that even the system administrator and Madison chancellor were encouraging them to approve.
I did that interview at 7:10 yesterday. My noon or so-the word had spread that the regents were scheduling a closed door meeting for -today. This evening. In which they were going to talk over ‘some number’ of things...and maybe this was one of them.
Hmmm....
So- was the negative reaction to their foolish vote so strong, or the negative media attention that followed, so strong that they might reconsider?
I don’t know. We’ll see. But they’d be smart to do so-because as I said yesterday: most Wisconsin voters and residents are ‘with’ Republicans on this DEI issue. It’s just an extension of ‘critical race theory’...and the left’s effort to ‘re-teach racism’ in different forms. Under the ludicrous umbrella that all sorts of hatreds are ‘justified’ if you’re hating the right people for the right reasons. And it’s mostly just hating whitey.
And since Jews have lighter skin that Palestinians- yep- the Jews are the ‘white oppressors’ and it’s right to hate and vilify them, as we’ve seen from the radical left over the last month or so.
This is all connected. We have seen a militant and -at times-violent antisemitism erupt on our college campuses across the country -and it shocked most people. Because they haven’t been watching the growing racial and religious hate- going on at our universities-for years.
hardly a day goes by now, that I don’t run across yet another racist, hate-filled screed on social media that is coming from an ‘academic’. These universities-which used to lead the way on rejecting hate in all its forms-has now become a ‘safe space’ for every type of hater you can imagine.
And racial haters top the list. We have all sorts of ‘Ibrahim X Kendi’s’ in academia now-collecting big paychecks as they spew vile crap.
If you think I’m exaggerating that this polluted nonsense is floating around on social media every day-I give you Rutgers professor Brittney Cooper, who says that white people are evil villains and need to be “taken out”. This fat jackass thinks she’s working on some sort of elevated level of critical thought, and Rutgers is rewarding her for her racism.
That’s enough Greg. I let that moron ramble for a full minute, so you could all here how incoherent and intellectually bankrupt she is. This woman can’t put three sentences together and can’t complete a coherent thought...but she’s a Rutgers professor who is giving ‘ted talks’ on race in America.
Why?
Because she’s an angry, racist, black woman who found a way to parlay her nonsense into a paycheck?
That’s what Cornell West and Al Sharpton have been doing for decades and what Ibrahim Kendi has been doing as a form of new age black racist.
And this woman: Professor Brittany Cooper, doesn’t even hit their level of ‘somewhat coherent nonsense’. She’s got no idea what she’s talking about.
But she’s a venerated black academic, because the leftist elites who have taken over our college campuses have turned them over to people like her. And then we, in turn, pay big money every semester to have our kids listen to this nonsense...and pretend they’re getting prepared for a real career.
This must end. As Owen Robinson puts it: this is a cancer we’ve let grow in our universities...and we should be applauding speaker Vos and Wisconsin’s conservatives for trying to excise it-
And look-
Not having the governor’s chair- GOP leaders here cannot simply ban DEI like the Florida or Iowa republicans did-
But Vos is at least trying to put the u-w system on a course of treatment. Think of his deal here-as finally starting some chemo-to kill some of the cancer cells that have taken over our academic body here.
Well, Gov Evers’ regents just rejected the treatment. They’d rather see the whole system wither and die- rather than give up a modicum of this poisonous control that has taken hold of it.
We see at Harvard and MIT-the leftists are digging in on this poisonous hold they have over academia in every way they can.
Do you know that Harvard has now lost a billion dollars in promised donations- and their faculty members are still moving in droves to protect the horrid pretender of a president they have-
Who was one of the women who embarrassed herself in front of congress last week?
You’d think that these faculty members would be more concerned with the staggering loss of funding and endowment money- over a billion dollars.
But their leftist dogma trumps all else. Clearly.
One of Harvard’s billionaire donors is Bill Ackerman, who says Gay’s failure as a president has led to billions of dollars of canceled, paused, or withdrawn donations recently including from some of the most generous Jewish donors.
Any normal faculty would care.
But-not a faculty that has come to see Jews as ‘white oppressors’ and would rather march with groups of misguided college kids and rove campus looking for Jews to hate....
Which is what has been going on these campuses. In America. In 2023.
We have university faculty members joining hateful-and even aggressively violent- racist protests.
If the KKK marched on any one of these campuses, these very same people would preen and pose and virtue signal and denounce them- but-
They- themselves- are today’s modern Klansmen. They’re the ones who are often covering their faces with masks and hoods.
Well-the masks have really fallen away from a lot of these haters-and from the falsehoods surrounding critical race theory and DEI poison over the last month. That’s for sure.
And how the rest of us, as Americans, respond to it is going to determine whether there’s any room for this poison to keep growing in our culture.
Removing these college presidents needs to be ‘step one’ in a much larger mission to ban and destroy this hateful mindset from our universities and our young people...
We-the people- must demand better of governor Evers and democrat lawmakers who want to appoint the most nutty and extreme people to positions of power-including to our board of regents.
Speaker Vos made the point during our interview yesterday: Evers’ team went out of it’s way to find the most ‘indoctrinated’ and ‘woke’ people to appoint as regents...so...of course they voted in favor of continuing on this poisonous path instead of reforming the u-w system into one that parents want to send their students to, in order to become fully developed adults.
