So-the lefty rag ‘The Atlantic’ is dedicating an entire issue to how Donald Trump will turn America into a dictatorship if he’s elected president again.
See-
This is a growing drumbeat and talking point on the elite, east coast left. They and their talking heads in the media have been slowly working themselves into a frenzy over this nonsensical claim...for weeks now....
To the point that they’ve convinced themselves this is true. They put a man in the white house who-currently-is acting like a dictator...and whose decisions and actions-really are- killing democracy....
But they’re working themselves into a lather issuing warnings and honing the smear for 2024: Donald Trump is a fascist who will turn America into a dictatorship if he wins.
I’m going to go ahead and label this the ‘new age’ Trump derangement syndrome.
This talking point has been swirling and building in the fever swamps of dc and the left-wing circles for months but it’s hit a more organized level of hysteria since last week-when Liz Cheney made the claim publicly.
America is a dictatorship if Trump wins’, she said.
This as the leftists at the Atlantic dedicating a whole issue to this ‘new truth’.
The staff of The Atlantic on the threat a second term poses to American democracy.
Really consider that phrase-and who it describes: an anti-democratic demagogue who is completely devoid of decency.
I don’t know, people, but that seems to describe Joe Biden quite accurately, given what we’ve seen of his agenda and his executive orders.
Folks, Donald Trump as president-did not once- ignore court rulings or admit that he was ignoring the constitution.
Joe Biden has done those things several times now. As he tried to cancel student loan debts on his own and as he extended rent payment rules-he admitted both times that he didn’t have the legal or constitutional authority to do it-but was doing it anyway.
This is a regime that is actively ignoring several court rulings-including on immigration processing and the border.
In every instance under Trump-he and his team followed the law and the decisions of the courts.
First of all-Trump lost very few court cases because he and his team-from the start-weren’t overstepping their authority.
In the instances that the court did rule against them, trump and his team would simply abide by the ruling and alter their approach and make sure it passed court-and legal-muster.
By contrast: Biden and his regime have lost nearly every court case that’s been brought against them-because their moves have been boldly unconstitutional or illegal- from their inception. This hasn’t been a Biden regime that’s-trying-to follow the law or the constitution. It’s a regime that-knows-it’s violating them and doesn’t care. Is trying to get away with it, anyway.
That’s a stark contrast to President Trump’s. Go back and do some googling. And yet- the dems and trump haters on our side are hoping the narrative for 2024 is: a vote for trump is a vote for a fascist dictatorship.
Good grief.
At some point, if you go too far, you lose all credibility with the average voter. And this is going too far.
These are the hysterical ninnies who were certain Donald Trump was a Russian asset-and who are willing to believe any crazy notion that fits their knee-jerk world view.
As one conservative pundit puts it: on trump’s watch there was no full-scale invasion of Ukraine, no major attack on Israel, no runaway inflation, no disastrous retreat from Afghanistan. It’s hard to make the case trump is unfit or could do worse than Biden has.
I agree with that completely. Unfortunately, much of what’s coming out of Donald Trump’s mouth these days seems a little angry and unhinged.... given how worked up he’s been about the injustices he’s been suffering...that I think it plays into this new claim...and ‘confirms it' to a lot of casual voters.
Trump’s still ranting about a stolen election every chance he gets. He’s still looking backward and is still primarily focused on how he’s being wronged and abused-
And -while he’s not wrong- the bulk of the American people don’t care-and they view that as selfish whining. They want forward-looking candidates, and they want to know what a second trump term will do ‘for them’ and ‘for the country’. Not ‘for trump’.
For us? In this audience?
These claims that trump will turn into a fascist dictator are so ludicrous and over the top that they’re easy to dismiss.
But that doesn’t mean all sorts of causal and ‘popularity contest’ voters won’t buy into it, anyway, because the claim seems to ‘pair up’ with the snippets of Donald Trump that they are seeing.
He sure does seem angry and red-faced every time we see him now, doesn’t he?
And he sure is going out of his way to be an a-hole to absolutely everyone now, isn’t he? Including those members of his own party-and his own past staffers-who supported him in term one?
And I’ve made it clear repeatedly: I’ll vote for trump a third time if I have to-because he’s not Joe Biden and because he was a very effective and surprisingly good president the first time.
But i worry about his electability after he’s clinched the nomination and the dems and their very powerful media have six months to convince the 2/3 of Americans who already say they don’t like Donald Trump that he’s too unhinged and dangerous to vote for again.
Issues and insights put out a poll on Monday that they tout as good news for Trump: he’s leading with independent voters.
That-is-good news, buy my god, after the disastrous Biden presidency and knowing how unfit he is to remain in this job- this lead should be much larger. Right now-they have trump leading Biden by only two points overall, nationally,
And have him leading among independents 37 percent to Biden’s 28 percent.
So, okay, that’s a 9-point margin. But trump’s still not even getting four in ten independent voters. How is that-possible? -given how God-awful Biden’s presidency has been?
35 percent of independents prefer someone else-or no one else- to those two choices.
This isn’t Trump “winning back voters.”
