My friends Peggy and Dennis Crull, the former owners of the international travel company Cruise & Tour are supporting a gofundme for an orphanage in Africa

Hello! Want to join us in making a difference? We're raising money to restore power to an orphanage in rural Tanzania via Love Our Tanzania Family, our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit that exists solely to support Tumaini For Africa Orphanage outside Arusha in northern Tanzania. The orphanage, which we discovered while on safari, receives no government support and is home to 40 children ages 4 and up who were abandoned on the streets of Arusha. These children now live and care for each other together at the orphanage as a family. East Africa, including Tanzania, is in the 5th year of a devastating drought, which has severely impacted the lives of these children in three ways. First, the freshwater supply for drinking, cooking and washing has been hampered. Following two failed attempts to drill a well, the orphanage was connected to the municipal pipeline, which the drought has reduced to a trickle. Increasingly expensive water now must be trucked in to meet their basic needs. Secondly, the drought has hampered crop production, causing the cost of food to soar. Finally, the lack of rain has crippled hydroelectric power production, which previously produced almost half of Tanzania's electricity. The result is electricity rationing that is hitting the rural areas particularly hard. Unannounced blackouts are now nearly an everyday event and can last up to 9 hours. The purpose of this fundraiser is to purchase a solar electric system with battery storage to allow the orphanage to produce its electricity by harnessing the sun, which is in ample supply. This will not only return them to having a stable, uninterruptable power source but it will also eliminate their electricity bill. That money can be redirected to offset rising food prices and the cost of buying water by the truckload. Will you join us in giving these children the chance for the better life they deserve? Will you help by making a tax-deductible donation toward this project today? Thank you so much!
