The bogus January sixth committee is nearly ready to release their final report....and Politico has some of the early details.
It sounds as if it is going to be precisely what we conservatives predicted it would be: this was a committee that was sold to the country as one that was going to investigate the January sixth capitol riot and make recommendations so that such a thing would never happen again...NOPE!
And yet.... they never investigated any of that.
From the start-this Nancy Pelosi created committee was instructed-not to- investigate her mistakes that left the capitol under-guarded and vulnerable.
No, no.
This committee was never going to -actually-do a real investigation and come up with valuable recommendations.
No, no.
It was all an excuse to launch another Donald Trump witch hunt and find new ways to smear him.
And... gee...Politico’s preview suggests that this is -exactly-what the committee report will be: it will focus on Trump, Trump, and only Trump.
Folks-five of those seven have nothing to do with the capitol riot...and this committee on January sixth...doesn’t seem to focus-at all-on January sixth!
What a farce.
When this committee was ordered by Pelosi. It was sold as an even-handed exercise that was going to expose the flaws that allowed our capitol to be stormed by a few hundred angry idiots...and the events of that day...that allowed it to take place.
But immediately- Pelosi refused to allow Kevin McCarthy and the republicans to choose their own GOP committee members-remember?
The long-standing rules in DC dictate that each party gets to appoint its own members to committees. Pelosi trashed that tradition when it came to her fake Jan sixth commission...and for a while...didn’t have a single republican on it.
Then Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger were weasley enough to step up and offer to be on it-in an effort to lend it some legitimacy-
But nearly two years later-it’s as illegitimate as it ever was.
And one reason it is-according to other members and staffers-is that Liz Cheney got onto the committee and then obsessively pursued trump and only Trump.
Folks, Pelosi’s greatest ally on this committee wasn’t Bennie Thompson, the dem who she appointed chairman. It was Liz Cheney-rabid trump hater who wanted to use the committee to destroy any chance that he’d be president again.
And given how 2/3 of the country seems to have soured on Donald Trump....the ludicrous findings of this committee-and it’s recommendation of criminal charges...might actually be enough to put the final nails in Trump’s political coffin.
Or-
The dems could over-reach again and make Donald trump a martyr and fuel a come-back story.
From its inception. This was a partisan exercise meant to help the dems win the 2022 and 24 elections...and to the point that it has degraded trump in the voter’s minds...while forcing the country to relentlessly focus on negative smears against him...
It has probably been successful. Yeah.
Donald Trump didn’t incite the riot-which was nowhere near an insurrection and never had even the remotest chance of being successful.
A few hundred angry idiots weren’t going to stop the transition of power. The proud boys...and their d-bag leader with the eye patch were never going to take over the country.
Nothing had been organized-
And neither Donald Trump nor his team had anything to do with organizing.
Not a single republican congressmen colluded with the rioters or let them case the joint ahead of time-or any of that vile crap that was spun in the immediate aftermath by lying liberals.
It was all fake smears....
And everything that has come afterward has been, too. And it’s disgraceful that the democrats have been allowed to abuse their power, taxpayer dollars, and government agencies to the great extent that they have here- all to manufacture a grand political smear.
They have no evidence of anything-and as one pundit puts it- Liz Cheney and these members have even tried to spin Donald Trump’s -lack of involvement-as proof of his involvement....in some kafka-esque farce.
Oh-and by the way? It’s nearly two years later, and neither chamber- controlled by the democrats- has passed the piece of legislation that would close the vague loophole that Trump was trying to use to delay or overturn the results.
Folks-after all of this preening and whining and claims of urgency-neither Pelosi nor Schumer have actually brought the bill up for a vote that reforms the electoral count act.... which would make it clear that any future attempt to exploit it in the way trump did- is null and void.
So-how worried about ‘protecting democracy’ are the democrats, really.
Literally days after the Jan sixth riot, republican congressmen, and people like myself urged congress to simply pass a bill that clarifies the electoral count act.
That’s all it would take.
It is a simple piece of legislation. And yet- nearly two years later- the democrat leaders of neither chamber have found it important to hold a vote on it.
Why?
I have no idea if Kevin McCarthy and republicans would pass it next year-if Pelosi doesn’t before Christmas. And she won’t.
Maybe the house conservatives have the integrity to pass it when Pelosi and Schumer don’t. We’ll see.
But the fact that that easy fix-remains- unaddressed proves that-for the democrats- all this nonsense related to January sixth and an ‘insurrection’...and new ‘dangers to democracy’ is all theatre. All unserious posturing.
And if you’re believing it- you’re a dope.
And yes, I expect the committee to proffer some criminal referrals to the justice department-urging Merrick Garland to charge Trump with something.
And I have no doubt Garland will pursue them, given what a dishonest, scummy partisan he has turned out to be. But that doesn’t mean the accusations, or the charges will be legitimate.
They’ll just be more 2024 theatre.
