Wasn’t it amazing how- on the second anniversary of the Kenosha riots-and now that he’s in a tight race-
How governor Tony Evers magically had a detailed tax cut plan ready to go, yesterday?
And isn’t it an amazing coincidence that he suggests doing things that he, as governor, has had the power to do for four years, but has never even mentioned before?
Like- ending the minimum markup law? Or a ten percent tax cut?
Wow- this is some crazy, out of character, ‘conservative sounding’ stuff from a governor who has walked in lockstep with Joe Biden and the democrats over the last two years-
And as a governor who has proposed all of two state budgets- both of which called for a billion dollars’ worth of tax increases and new leftist programs.
This is quite a turnaround, folks, and of course it is insincere, and a pathetic pander, and the whole purpose of it is to hope that naïve and ignorant voters are dumb enough to fall for it.
Also-the timing: bravo. Kudos to Evers’ campaign manager, who decided to roll it out on the second anniversary of the terrible Kenosha rioting that Tony Evers and Mandela Barnes could have worked to -calm-but instead worked to inflame for two days.
This is a well-timed misdirection.
And because other hosts have taken you back thru the Kenosha riots and the ways in which Gov Evers and Mandela Barnes only-inflamed-passions and virtually ensured the riots with their responses to the Jacob Blake shooting-
And then how Evers did nothing for two days, before finally calling in enough National Guardsmen to stop the rioting on day four or so...
Since you’ve been thru all of that, yesterday, i want to focus on Evers’ fraudulent tax cut proposal yesterday.
And one thing i will point out about it right off the bat is- in typical left-wing, big govt fashion, Evers and his team don’t just- ‘give everyone a tax refund’.
They don’t just ‘return the excess tax revenue that the state has collected to the taxpayers who paid it in in the first place-
No, no. That would be-fair.
Instead, what Evers does is, in typical lefty fashion, chooses winners and losers with it.
Instead of simply refunding money to those of us who have paid in-staggering-amounts of state taxes over the last several years.... Gov Every. Instead, chooses to ‘redistribute’ that money to the people who he thinks are more deserving, or who ‘need it’ more.
And that’s enough reason for republicans in Madison to reject it out of hand: no, we should not let a democrat governor use and abuse our tax surplus this way.
It should either result in a -permanent-reduction in our spending....by which...i mean changes to the tax formula so that the state govt isn’t taking more out of our paychecks than they need to in the first place...
Or....it should result in proportional refunds based on what people paid in.
Instead-Evers’ plan -which is a pretend plan-by the way...
Let’s also make this crystal clear now: gov Evers and his team knew as they were crafting this that it had no chance of passing, and was instead, just a ‘display document’....
And so...they went ahead and put in all sorts of preening bologna in it that they never would agree to if it had a real chance of passing...
(By the way- preening bologna is a great name for a rock band)
But- let’s not pretend that Evers and the democrats would agree to-any-of this stuff if republicans called their bluff and said ‘let’s pass it’, or if, god forbid, Tony Evers wins re-election and Vos and LeMahieu bring it back in spring.
Let’s be clear that tony Evers would suddenly be uninterested in any of this- having tricked voters into four more years.
But- instead of clean, fair tax refunds, notice how the Evers team just...cannot...help themselves. They’ve got to play political games and choose winners and losers with this money.
All the tax breaks must go to those who the left deems ‘more worthy’ than the rest of us, who just had it taken from our paychecks unfairly.
It’s not like these are ‘unworthy’ groups of people...but why is the governor refusing to give-any-of the surplus tax money back to the people who paid it in?
Why cap the small. Small. Small. Income tax break to anyone making under 100-grand or any couple making under 150-grand?
I’m guessing that that stipulation, alone, freeze out about 50 to 70 percent of the people in this audience. I know that a lot of people listening to me don’t make 100-grand a year, but between the two spouses, make more than 150.
And then, you’d be surprised how many people in this audience-are-making more than 100-grand in salary. We all get screwed? After being the earners who -overpaid- the most? Dumped the biggest amount of this ‘excess’ into the treasury?
Tony Evers isn’t proposing a tax cut. He’s proposing a redistribution of wealth.
No one who paid the most in ‘deserves’ or ‘needs’ to get the money back that they were over-taxed for in the first place.
That’s pathetic.
And then-the politically targeted other stuff: folks, the homestead credit is IRS welfare. It goes to people who either never paid in in the first place or only paid in a pittance because they are low income. The homestead tax credit is a-pure- handout-slash-redistribution of income. And so, Evers finds that worthy.
The move to repeal the minimum markup on gas is a cheap pander, and he knows neither party is really willing to do it-so he just tosses it out there.
Creating a ‘caregiver tax credit’.... okay...so now he’s just inventing new handouts. New ways to ‘redistribute’ the money that the rest of us paid in...to people he finds more deserving or wants to vote democrat.
Ditto for the quote...newly created child and dependent care tax credit.... it’s just another form of IRS welfare that the democrats have dreamt up recently.
So, please notice that gov Evers isn’t really proposing a tax cut. That’s how he’s billing it, but that’s not what he’s proposing.
He’s trying to buy votes right before an election, and he’s trying to do it with tax money that he has taken out of-your paycheck- over the last several years, unnecessarily.
This is part of a projected four-billion dollar surplus that responsible budgeting by the legislative republicans is responsible for.
It’s a surplus that has been growing since the Walker years, and one that we wouldn’t even have if the budgets that were -proposed-by tony Evers and Mandela Barnes had passed. Thank God, responsible republicans blocked them.
Evers and Barnes called for two billion dollars more in spending over those budgets. Instead, the republicans cut our taxes by two billion dollars and Tony Evers was-at least-smart enough to sign that. Now he’s running around pretending as if GOP tax cuts -are his. Were his intention.
But this last-minute silliness right before the election is as transparent as it is fraudulent. It’s a total joke.
But hey-it got Evers a few stellar headlines from his accomplices in the Wisconsin media, and on the second anniversary of the Kenosha riots which are- just one-of Tony Evers’ terrible failures over the last four years.
It’s not a mistake that Evers’ team rolled this out as his republican opponent, Tim Michels was touring Kenosha and surveying and talking about the ‘lasting damage’ of those riots.
It was known -immediately-to law enforcement that the shooting of Jacob Blake was justified. The Kenosha PD did a smart thing and put out the video, immediately, and anyone who watched it could see a man resisting arrest and going for a weapon in his vehicle. He had the weapon in his hand.
This is an incident with police that started because his ex-girlfriend called the cops because he was trying to steal her car and kidnap their children-who were already in the vehicle-when this all happened.
Gov Evers and Lt Gov Barnes-had to know- this was a defensible action by police before they leapt to condemn it and frame it as ‘yet another innocent black man being shot in the back by cops’.
If you remember, the Wisconsin sheriff’s association and police chief’s associations both called Evers’ statement offensive and dangerous.
Don’t let your friends and family get distracted by false promises of a fake tax cut that won’t benefit them. Gov Evers and Wisconsin democrats-by rolling this fake plan out yesterday-think you are reaaalllyyy stupid.
Are you?
Their initial statements on the shooting, and Evers’ inaction that followed, were despicable.
Make no mistake: Tony Evers, like all the other democrat governors and mayors at the time- gave the leftist thugs the room to riot.
Remember that phrase?
Evers and Barnes-encouraged-and helped facilitate the rioting- thru their rhetoric and inaction. They let Kenosha businesses burn.
For two days.
