We asked parents and teachers how "remote home learning" is going

As a former teacher, I was interested on how the remote home learning is going. I've been hearing very different reports. Below is a sample of the texts that came in and the segment with the phone calls below~Jay

Mukwonago was super quick to get their teachers together and get their teachers up and running. They met around March 12th and it was an all hands on deck situation and they worked theor butts off to figure it out. That is an example of leadership. They did a great job.

My colleague showed our principal the Kansas documents and she was like, "Holy crap." Yeah, it would have been nice to have something similar from Wisconsin DPI.

As a teacher I have never seen so much help and assistance from companies giving us stuff for free! It gives me goosebumps.

I have two kids in an MPS school. One set up Google classroom does video conference with the whole class twice a week and gives work for the kids to do daily. My son's teacher has done nothing. No response of any kind. One email saying that classes are cancelled and to work on your own with no guidance. The only response from the principal is that he can't make them do anything until in person classes resume.

Salem Elementary 1st grade SpEd student: took 2 weeks off to get virtual learning up and going. Using Google classroom for ideas from therapists, assignments from classroom teacher, zoom live sessions with teachers and speech therapist. Oh, and don't worry, they are still taking spring break next week

Jay we have a third grader and a seventh grader that go to Elm Grove Lutheran we were lucky we were going into our spring break when governor Eavers shut down the schools so during that week they set up online platforms through Google classroom zoom meeting and they sent all the kids home with all

Black River Falls school district has no online learning. We have paper packets that are basically worthless. This is a lost semester.

Hi Greg this is Ryan from Virginia Mn and my son is doing this online learning and its extremely difficult to have him do his learning through an Ipad as I work from home and thus its a bit more challenging to get him to work on it my wife is able to work with him when she is off as her schedule is goofy so its an okay plan but would work better in a classroom for him

Our online experience has been fabulous. Our children go to a private school, St John’s in Mayville and these teachers have worked so hard to set up online classes. They have face to face anywhere from 2 to 4 hours a day. I have a 3rd grader and a 7th grader. My seventh grader already had a Chromebo

The teacher sent home a packet of worksheets, they are also emailing us online lessons which I haven't quite figured out how to work yet.... also, I'm a single mom, kids are young I am an essential worker, I leave the house at 630am and get home at 630pm I can't possibly pull off all this online learning from 630 until 830 bedtime. It is not realistic for my babysitter to do it she has enough in her plate with the kids

We'd like to hear from you. Comment on this page below
