New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez toured a detention facility for migrants this week and made national headlines with her claims.
She said that the migrants were kept in deplorable conditions, that babies had dirty diapers and that the detainees had no water.
That was in addition to saying that the Border Patrol threatened her andsexually harassedher during the tour.
The Border Patroldenied those claimsand said that it was she that was the one who harassed and threatened them.
Rev. Samuel Rodriguezsaid he was “full of indignation” when he read the reports and prepared to see the worst when he went to visit the facilities.
“I read the reports, saw the news clips. I just wanted to see what was actually happening in order to better enable our efforts to find a fair and a just solution to our broken immigration system,” he said toFox News.
Rodriguez is not coming from a partisan perspective as he has advised President Trump, former President Obama and former President George W. Bush on matters of immigration.
