Marquette University won't require ACTs or SATs for new students

MILWAUKEE, WI (Wisconsin Radio Network) - Marquette University will no longer require prospective students to take the ACT or SAT.

Starting next fall, students applying to Marquette University will not be required to take a standardized test to get in. Dean of Undergraduate Admissions Brian Troyer says that for some students four years of high school and other activities can easily replace four hours taking a test. "We want to give students the opportunity to represent themselves as best they can in the application process, so we'll no longer require the ACT or the SAT."

Troyer says his department wants to take a more holistic approach to assessing candidates, and that looking at a student's entire history coming into their undergraduate career will better serve both the University and its student body.
