Evers Congratulates Losing Candidate on His Election Victory

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers sent a heartfelt letter to Andrew Cegielski on his victory in a Waukesha County Board race. The only problem? Cegielski lost by 30 percent!

Darryl J. Enriquez defeated Cegielski 65 percent to 35 percent in April's race for District 19 Waukesha County Supervisor. Enriquez nearly doubled Cegielski's vote total.

Nonetheless, a little more than a week later, Evers sent Cegielski a congratulatory letter.

"Dear Andrew," Evers wrote. "Congratulations on your recent election as a Waukesha County Supervisor! A strong local government is the cornerstone of any great democracy.

"I wanted to take this opportunity to acknowledge the hard work you put into your election, and to thank you for your dedication to serving your community and our great state."

Evers then promised that "his door is always open" to working with Cegielski and provided contact information for his External Affairs director.

"Once again, thank you for your service to your community and our state, and congratulations on your election!" Evers concluded. "I wish you the best of luck."
