Democrat Impeachment Efforts Started Before Trump was Even the GOP Nominee

How phony have Democrat efforts to impeach President Trump really been? They started before he was even the Republican presidential nominee.

"Could Trump Be Impeached Shortly After He Takes Office?" POLITICO questioned in an absurd headline on April 17, 2016.

"Donald Trump isn’t even the Republican nominee yet. But his incendiary rhetoric, most notably about killing the families of terrorists and bringing back torture, has critics on the right and the left discussing the most extreme of countermeasures at an unusually early point in the race," wrote senior policy reporter Darren Samuelsohn. "Impeachment” is already on the lips of pundits, newspaper editorials, constitutional scholars, and even a few members of Congress.

"It’s not unusual for controversial presidents to be shadowed by talk of impeachment, once they’ve been in office long enough to make people mad. But before he’s elected? Before he’s a nominee?"

This push continued after Trump won the nomination in a Pacific Standard article entitled "The Case for a Trump Impeachment" on October 4, 2016.

"Donald Trump, the man who has drawn headlines for repeatedly skirting the unspoken rules of decorum during his presidential campaign, has also promised to break several actual United States laws if elected in November—murdering terrorists’ families and torturing suspected criminals among them," wrote reporter Kate Kilkenny. "These are, of course, likely “high crimes and misdemeanors,” and therefore grounds for impeachment under the U.S. Constitution. But even if Trump doesn’t make good on his boasts, has the GOP candidate already laid the groundwork for his Congressionally induced removal from the Oval Office? Don’t be so skeptical: His brief tenure as the face and leader of the for-profit Trump University suggests as much, according to a new working paper from University of Utah law professor Christopher Peterson."
