Nearly three-quarters of Wisconsin's 72 counties have seen 20 or fewer Coronavirus cases, while 62% have seen 10 or fewer, and 43% have seen five or fewer, an analysis of the state's data has found.
Moreover, 86% of Wisconsin's counties have seen 10 or fewer new cases in the past week, while a full 35% have not seen a single new case.
As of Sunday, April 19, Wisconsin has had a total of 4,346 Coronavirus cases since the state began tracking cases earlier this year. Nearly 50% of those, however, have been in Milwaukee County, which has had 2,150 total cases.
Southeastern Wisconsin, which is comprised of Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, Kenosha, Ozaukee, and Washington Counties--account for a full 68.9% of all of the state's cases.
Outside of that densely populated corridor, Coronavirus has not been prevalent at all. In fact, seven counties--Burnett, Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Pepin, Taylor, and Vernon--have not had a single case at all. Stunningly, a full 43.0% of Wisconsin's counties (31 in total) have seen five or fewer cases. 45 counties (62.5% of the state's total) have had 10 or fewer cases. And a whopping 73.6% of counties (53 total) have had 20 or fewer cases.
Over the past week, a full 34.7% of counties (25 total) did not see a single new Coronavirus case. 77.7% of counties (56 total) saw five or fewer new cases. 86% of counties (62 total) saw 10 or fewer new cases.
As radio host Jeff Wagner eloquently put it, "How much 'flatter' can the curve get in these areas?"
