The Democratic National Convention Host Committee is talking with the Democratic National Committee about possibly shortening July's Democratic National Convention and moving it from the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, "The Dan O'Donnell Show" has learned.
Fears over Coronavirus combined with the possibility that the Milwaukee Bucks would need the arena for a continuation of the NBA season led to these emergency discussions, multiple sources indicated. As a result, the DNC could be trimmed to three days or even one.
The convention would still be held in Milwaukee, but law enforcement agencies have already been told to make contingency arrangements for other venues. Complicating matters is the possibility that local law enforcement agencies from outside Milwaukee County will be needed to stay in their hometowns to help with the Coronavirus response.
In addition, because of international travel bans, the number of media credentials issued will likely be cut in half, from 50,000 to 25,000.
The Democratic National Convention is currently scheduled to take place at the Fiserv Forum July 13-16.
