State Senator Van Wanggaard tells Dan O'Donnell that he will not run for retiring House Speaker Paul Ryan's seat in Congress, joking that O'Donnell himself should run.
"I started working on [Ryan's] first campaign back in '98," Wanggaard noted. "That was my first political activity, pounding signs for Paul Ryan."
Wanggaard said he understood Ryan's family-centered reasons for leaving Congress, noting that he finds running a State Senate campaign taxing enough, let alone Congress.
"I know how challenging it is for my family," Wanggaard said.
