Some of the best burgers can be found in local eateries tucked away from the hustle and bustle of packed city streets inside hidden hotspots.
Cheapism compiled a list of the "best hole-in-the-wall burger joints" across the U.S., the small but mighty eateries that might not be as "glamorous" as the highly-touted chains and popular establishments but that still pack a major punch with a bite you'll be thinking about for many meals to come.
According to the site, the top spot in all of Wisconsin is Wedl's Hamburger Stand. The burgers at this unassuming Jefferson snack shack are packed with flavor, but the menu is filled with plenty of other incredible options as well. Wedl's, which has a 4.5 star rating on Google and nearly 1,500 reviews, is located at 200 E Racine Street.
Here's what Cheapism had to say about this beloved hidden gem:
"Wedl's takes 'hole-in-the-wall' to new levels — it's a seasonal, sidewalk shack that's been around for more than a century, cooking thin, smashed slider-style burgers on a griddle with lard and onions."
