I avoided getting sucked into the silly ‘Royals’ story yesterday morning, but just can’t leave it alone this morning.
And this will be about a much larger issue, not the esoteric, tabloid nature of the coverage, so if you really don’t care about that-bear with me- I have a much more serious point to make.
But you know I develop a ‘take’ on just about everything, and here’s the one that stands out to me, as I absorbed the coverage and reaction to this Harry and Meghan interview with Oprah.
My biggest takeaways are-
A)How most of the ‘shocking’ and interesting things that Meghan Markle alleged, simply aren’t true and were so easily debunked. As if she doesn’t seem to understand what’s going on around her.
B) And that she and Oprah worked to make this racial, and the attacks that they set up the royal family for are ugly and wildly unfair.
Let’s start with a woman who appears to be living in her own version of reality.
Megan Markel appears to be a smart woman, to me, but maybe she’s really not. She certainly has a normal IQ or better, so that’s’ not the problem.
But, according to her own take on things, she didn’t seem to know certain things.
She didn’t seem to know anything about the royal family before she met harry. Didn’t do any googling. Just wasn’t interested in opulence and that lifestyle-even though she clearly was. She invited Oprah and George Clooney and other a-list stars to her wedding that neither of them had met. That would suggest that she-is- hung up on those things.
Second, she didn’t seem to know that- no, she didn’t marry Harry three days before their big public wedding. The Church of England said yesterday that- aside from whatever she thought was happening- that was just a rehearsal, because the requirements of a royal wedding under the church weren’t met.
Another major claim she botched was when she insisted their son Archie was denied the title of prince because he is ¼ black.
That is not at all the case. Harry is a prince, yes, because he was born to the heir to the throne, Prince Charles. But the moment Prince William had kids, any future titles of prince or princess flowed to his kids, not Harry’s.
Harry and Meghan- no matter what-were never going to have children with those titles, and so Archie could have come out chartreuse or paisley, or egg white...and he wasn’t ever going to be a prince.
And maybe Meghan and Oprah-being Americans-just got it wrong. And yet- that lie then became the basis of the main thrust of the fallout, didn’t it?
The fallout from the interview that you couldn’t avoid yesterday was that Meghan smeared the royal family as racist. With that accusation, and with a second hand claim that some other royal asked Harry about how dark Archie might be...before he was born.
This is because Markel is half black. And so-it was she and Oprah that made racial assumptions here and turned this into a black/white thing again.
And here’s why I decided to talk about it today: to once again-inject some honesty and some reason. These liberals like harry and Meghan always insist on making everything about race. And we know Oprah always seems to.
But here’s the truth: Meghan Markle is half black, but no one who sees her for the first time likely even considers it- because she looks like she’s anything-other than-black.
Markel looks like she might be Italian, or Latina, or Mediterranean, but ‘black’...or ‘African American’ doesn’t pop to mind when you see her.
She has white facial features, and very light skin, and could be taken or mistaken for any number of ethnicities or racial mixes. And in today’s multi-ethnic, very blended world, most of us don’t really think too hard about it, nor care.
And so in truth? The vast majority of people around the globe never considered or assumed that that woman was part black when she was introduced to us...as Harry’s fiancé.
My first thought was, yeah, she’s pretty, and I never went to: what race is she?
I’m sure some people did, but I bet most of them were liberals on either side of the pond.
In today’s America swear to you-it only seems to be the activist left who leaps right to that question.
Most of us were raised in the 70s, 80s, and 90s when race was supposed to be overlooked in favor of a colorblind society...and that’s what we were all working for and were teaching our children..... Until....The mid to early 2000s the hyper-focus on skin color all came roaring back...because the political left had new uses for it.
Suddenly, their mission was to divide all of us by race, gender, social class, etc. Because you can’t agitate for votes if no one’s agitated. If you haven’t convinced every different subgroup that they are a victim in some way.
You also can’t racially and gender-agitate if there isn’t some boogie man who isn’t denying the fake victims their due. And so, of course white men still need to be singled out as the biggest problem in America...and all of their offspring need to be singled out as having incredible privileges that they don’t even know about.
Unless they’ve got a mother of color, of course.
The left found a reason to bring all of this racial hatred and division and micro-classing back up.And nearly everyone gets to have a ‘victim’ card. And in this world? Even though Megan Markel doesn’t look black...and has, in fact, used her looks to get acting jobs and meet and marry a prince and have an incredible life of privilege that none of the rest of us have access to-
Still! Using the rules of today’s left-
Still! This woman can play the race card and the gender card, at the very least, and act the victim. And that’s what she’s doing.
Not just for herself-but for her infant child!
Let’s just say it: little Archie sure looks white to the rest of us. He’s only one-quarter black and most likely will have very few, if any, outward traits of his black lineage....but already....in that interview...Markel was setting the predicate that he is somehow being discriminated against,
And she at least implied that he had to be taken away from a difficult life in England, where Harry’s cracker family was going to mistreat him and withhold their love for him, based on what skin color he had...or the fact that they knew he had African blood behind his white skin.
And that, to me, is just vile.
That is-just vile-for Markel to do and for Oprah to be a part of.
Every guy in America knew what harry was getting into, when we saw and heard Markel’s story for the first time.
She fled to Canada in order to avoid the limelight and the slings and arrows of the tabloids...but the moment she was out of it....she moved them all to l-a to make money off of their celebrity and do an exclusive sit-down with Oprah.
Poor little Archie is already screwed. Markel hits me as the type of woman who will be claiming he’s got cancer just to get more attention to herself in a few years.
Watch for Munchausen by proxy with this chick.
She’s living in her own fictional drama, and will only keep ratcheting up the stakes.
