UPDATE February 27, 2020 - The Molson Coors Brewery campus in Milwaukee will remain closed today after a gunman shot and killed five employees before killing himself Wednesday.

More than a thousand people were at work in what's known locally as Miller Valley, a more than 20 building campus when the shooting began just after 2:00 p.m. at building 4.

The company is not identifying the 51-year-old shooter, but confirms he was an active employee.

Molson Coors CEO Gavin Hattersley says the brewery will be shut down to give workers time to cope with the trauma of the shooting and loss of co-workers.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the gunman had two handguns, one with a silencer.

In a late night press conference Wednesday, Milwaukee police say the names of the victims will not be released for 24-48 hours. Investigators are still working to confirm a motive for the killings.

UPDATE February 26, 2020 - Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales confirms in a 6:30 p.m. news statement that five Miller Coors employees have been killed, and says the shooter was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police say the shooting happened near 41st and State west of downtown.

WISN Radio News reported earlier that Froedtert Hospital had no victims from the shooting.

The shooter is identified by witnesses as an employee in uniform who may have been fired Wednesday.

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin - WISN Radio News broadcast live coverage of a reported shooting at the Miller Brewing campus, now the Miller-Coors complex in the 4100 block of West State Street since mid-afternoon.

WISN Radio reported a member of law enforcement confirmed that up to seven people were dead, including the shooter.

As of 5:30 p.m. Milwaukee Police were posting on their Twitter feed that they are not officially confirming any numbers, yet. Some national news media are reporting five were killed.

NewsTalk 1130 WISN host Dan O'Donnell broke the story first, and the coverage continued wall-to-wall through the afternoon with continuing additional coverage from Mark Belling, Dave Michaels, Jerry Bott, and Paul Kronforst in the WISN Radio Newsroom.

Messages from brewery workers were coming in through the afternoon confirming information and telling WISN Radio NewsTalk staff the shooter is a disgruntled employee.
