Trumps Hints "Mad Dog" Mattis Could Be On His Way Out

President Donald Trump suggested that defense Secretary James Mattis could resign his post during an interview with Lesley Stahl on 60 Minutes. Trump told Stahl that he has "a very good relationship with him," and that the two "get along very well."

Trump did say that Mattis is "sort of a Democrat," and then said that "he may leave" the administration.

"I think he's sort of a Democrat, if you want to know the truth," the president continued. "But Gen. Mattis is a good guy. We get along very well. He may leave. I mean, at some point, everybody leaves. Everybody. People leave. That's Washington."

There were reports in September that the president was looking at potential replacements for Mattis. Trump denied the reports and Mattis said that he had no intention of resigning

Trump's comments come less than one week after Nikki Haley shocked Washtingon D.C. by announcing that she would be resigning as the ambassador to the United Nations.
