Defense Secretary James Mattis says "Dreamers" serving in or honorably discharged from the military will not face deportation. Mattis told reporters today that service members brought to this country illegally as children will not be subject to any kind of deportation, even if the DACA program expires. He said the only exceptions would be if someone committed a serious felony or if a final deportation order had already been signed by a federal judge. The Pentagon said there are about 900 Dreamers currently serving in the armed forces or awaiting boot camp.
The DACA program is set to expire March 5th unless Congress acts.
